Revisiting Immigration Attitudes: How Asylum Seekers Nuance Previous Findings<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Recent research has shown that natives overestimate the number of immigrants in their country and that informing them makes them more accepting toward immigrants. I show that these results can be reversed by focusing on asylum seekers, the sub-group of immigrants that natives are most opposed to.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Large representation gaps exist, but do they also cause populist voting? We test this claim in an information-provision experiment conducted in the weeks leading up to the 2025 German federal election.
